The initiative, led by the Iran Road Management Center, is designed to ensure real-time oversight and facilitate the safe and efficient movement of millions of pilgrims toward western border terminals.
Intelligent Monitoring and Surveillance Upgrades
Eight monitoring centers have been established at key border crossings. Additionally, 45 intelligent surveillance systems are being installed along major access routes. Drone-based aerial monitoring will provide live imaging over high-traffic areas including Shahid Soleimani (Mehran), Khosravi, and Shalamcheh.
Twelve Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems have been deployed at border terminals including Chazzabeh and Rimdan, with expansion plans to cover provincial passenger terminals. Moreover, 100 in-vehicle monitoring cameras are now active on fleet vehicles, offering real-time data to the Road Management Center and Central Arbaeen Operations Headquarters.
Software-Driven Traffic Management Tools
The operation features several high-tech digital platforms. The License Plate Data Mining Application (DAP) is used to analyze transport activity, while an upgraded Traffic Bottleneck Identification System helps detect and manage congestion near key border routes.
Pilgrim-Focused Travel Information Services
A dedicated Arbaeen edition of the 141 Travel Information Platform will provide pilgrims with real-time travel alerts, route guidance, and service updates. These innovations underline Iran’s broader effort to modernize transport infrastructure and support the dignified movement of pilgrims during one of the world’s largest religious gatherings.
